On Monday 4th June St. Mary’s and Birches PS held their Shared Education showcase in St. Mary’s PS, Maghery.
As the focus this year was on music and mindfulness, the board of governors, church leaders and family members were given a snippet of the activities that the children have been participating in throughout the year. The morning began with a superb performance by the joint choir and instrumental group. This was followed by our Primary 1-4 activity with Chris from Enjoyable music. Primary 6&7 participated in a mindfulness session and also performed activities from the Charanga Music programme, in which all children performed an instrument. Some of the parents were even willing to take part!!
The guests were then given the opportunity to browse around the work stations to Primary 5 working on the Garage band- an app, in which the children composed rhythms and motifs with Niall from the Amma centre and finished the morning with a cuppa and chat with some of the children.
The morning was a great success with a good attendance of invited guests and parents from both schools. Congratulations to all the children involved who did their school very proud!
