Outdoor Learning in Primary 6/7 Part 2
It was another fun filled day in Primary 6/7 today as we completed many more outdoor learning activities to celebrate Outdoor Classroom Week 2024.
As part of our topic "On the Air" in which children are exploring the themes of flight and forces, we brought our learning outside to create six variations of paper planes. We worked in pairs to follow the explanation texts on how to create each plane, and then flew each plane to decide which ones flew the furthest. We discussed how each model plane was specifically suited for flying and why.
We also explored the theme of Climate Change through 'Climate Change Dodgeball'. The children acted out the roles of greenhouse gases, Earth and the sun, with the bean bags being used to represent suns rays being trapped inside the Earth, thereby heating it up. As an Eco School with a 'Green Flag' status, the children are constantly committed to learning more about the ecosystem and the natural world. They loved learning about how greenhouse gases are contributing to temperature rises.
The children had a wonderful day learning outdoors!
