The school football team travelled to Ballymacnab last Wednesday past to earn a well deserved place in the Malachy McGeeney Cup final, scheduled to take place in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh on Thursday 10th May. The team put on a fabulous display of skill and determination fending off challenges in their section from Darkley PS, St Michael’s PS Clady, St Lawerence O Toole PS Belleeks and Jonesborough PS to reach the semi finals, where we met our neighbours St John’s Eglish. This was a close encounter with some great scores taken by both teams but thankfully the Maghery players dug deep and came out deserved winners with a 2 point victory. A massive well done to the players and to Mr Watters and Mrs O Keefe for their mentoring on the day. Thanks also to Cumann na mBunscol and to Ballymacnab Round Towers for facilitating a great days football.
