Maths Week 2024 - Day 4 - P1/2
18th Oct 2024
Today the Primary 1-2 children continued Maths Week 2024 with the theme of counting and estimating
During our morning play the children created some Incy Wincy Spiders, Making sure that he had the right amount of legs.
The children then heard the story of Emma's Big Counting. They discussed how to set out objects to be counted and what estimating (guessing) is.
Next up was some cross curricular maths work on the iPad. The children practiced their numbers by giving the teddy some cakes.
The children then worked with their P6/7 buddy partner to go on a outdoor maths scavenger hunt. They were looking for shapes, numbers and patterns in their local environment.
The day ended with the children each being given a bag of skittles. They estimated how many they though was in the bag and then how many of each colour. They then sorted their bag into coloured groups and recorded this information. They especially enjoyed eating their sweets at the end of the day.
