Maths Week 2024 - Day 1 - P1/2
Today the Primary 1-2 children began Maths Week 2024 with the themes of shapes.
During our morning play the children explored a range of shells (kindly donated by Miss Robinson). They looked at the shapes and patterns and sorted the shells according to size.
The children then heard the story of Jo Jo the Gnome and the shape map. There were lots of discussions about the shapes and the properties of each shape.
Next up was some cross curricular maths work on the iPad. The primary 1 children feed the hungry shape monsters and the Primary 2 children were able to fill a large triangle with a range of shapes of their choice.
The children then put their art skills to the test by designing and creating some shape monsters using shapes of different sizes and colours.
The day ended with a fun game of shape bingo.
