Chocolate Chip Coal Mining
8th Nov 2023
The Primary 4 and 5 children have been learning about fossil fuels as part of their World Around Us theme, this term.
Last week, the children were given the task of mining chocolate chips, out of chocolate chip biscuits, using tooth picks. The chocolate represented the coal and the biscuit the earth.
After a period of careful mining the children could clearly see how mining impacted the earth around coal mines and understood the importance of finding alternative, renewable, fuels.
