Apple Tree Project
Primary 5-7 kicked off their Apple Tree project on Wednesday 6th September by erecting their tree box and filling it with stones and soil. They also had a talk about different wild small animals and birds that inhabit around the Lough. The children were able to have a look and touch the stuffed animals. This is a project organised by the Loughshore group in partnership with Oxford island. The children will plant the tree in October and also spend a morning cooking apple pies. They will end the project with a trip to Peatlands park later in the year. This project fits in perfectly with P6 & 7s's topic which is 'The World around us' in which the children will learn about the history and geography of where they live and the wider province of Ulster.
